In the world of high-society philanthropy, the "Thank You" is just as important as the "Ask." This week, I had the pleasure of delivering to one of my favorite historic venues, the Santa Barbara Club, for a very special mission: crafting the perfect parting gesture for the Cottage Hospital Tiara Ball Committee.
As a former travel designer and private butler, I’ve coordinated countless VIP luncheons. I know that when you are thanking a committee that has dedicated months to a cause as vital as Cottage Health, a generic gift simply won’t do. It requires a level of intentionality that mirrors the prestige of the event itself.
The Setting: A Luncheon at the Santa Barbara Club
The Santa Barbara Club is an icon of "Old California" elegance. When designing a gift for a luncheon in this space, the aesthetic must be sophisticated, refined, and understated. We wanted the Gala Committee to feel that same "white-glove" care the moment they sat down at the table.
The Design: Customization Beyond the Box
For this specific committee, we didn't just provide "macarons"—we provided a branded experience.
-
The Palette: We pulled inspiration from the Tiara Ball’s legacy of elegance, using the palette of this Year's theme: The Giving Sea. And tones that felt cohesive with the club’s historic dining room.
-
The Custom Branding: Each gift box featured bespoke labeling ensuring that the Cottage Hospital identity was front-and-center.
-
The Flavor Narrative: I curated a selection that bridges my own heritage with our local landscape. We paired two Classique French favorites—Tahitian Vanilla and Coconut White Chocolate ganache (a nod to my Bordeaux roots)—with a Santa Barbara staple: our bright Passionfruit ganache. Together, they provided a light, sophisticated finish that complemented the refined atmosphere of a professional luncheon.
Why "Bespoke" is the Only Standard for Boards & Committees
When you are dealing with high-profile donors and committee members, the "unboxing" is their final impression of the organization’s gratitude.
-
Dietary Peace of Mind: Because Rêve macarons are naturally gluten-free, the event organizers didn't have to worry about individual dietary restrictions at the table.
-
Logistical Precision: Just as I once managed arrivals at Caribbean villas, we managed the "placement" of these gifts. They were delivered and styled to ensure they served as part of the table decor before becoming a takeaway treasure.
Bringing the "Hospitality Standard" to Your Next Meeting
Whether you are thanking a non-profit board, a corporate team, or your wedding party, the gift you choose is a reflection of your own standards. At Rêve Patisserie, we specialize in the "Art of the Arrival"—ensuing that every box feels like a five-star check-in.
